There are many hotels around the world that welcome pets, but one Swedish brand came up with something even more interesting.

ESS Group has reportedly become the first hotel group in Europe to offer on-site veterinary services for dogs.

Launched in early October, the initiative – called Vet at ESS – is a collaboration between the hotel group and Vet at Home, which provides licensed veterinarians at the hotels.

“We love dogs and see them as our guests just like humans. Both two- and four-legged travellers should feel completely safe and cared for. By teaming up with Vet at Home, we want to set a new standard in hospitality where care and guest experience go hand in hand,” said the chief operations officer of ESS Group, Anders Nilsson.

As more people choose to travel with their pets, ESS Group strives to make every stay safe and seamless for both owners and their furry companions.

From nail clipping and vaccinations, to getting European Union passports and providing emergency treatments, Vet at ESS offers a range of professional care.

The service is available at several ESS properties across Sweden, but there are talks of expanding to other countries in the EU.

This innovative concept reflects how pet-friendly holidays are gaining popularity across Asia, where more hotels are opening their doors to furry guests.

In Singapore, Oasia Resort Sentosa offers a “Paw-fect Retreat” package, allowing guests to bring one dog along for a relaxing stay.

Other properties in the island state that are embracing a similar approach include Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa and Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong.

In the heart of Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok, hotels like Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel and Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel let guests check in with their furry kids, making it easier for owners to enjoy the city without leaving their pets behind.

Meanwhile, in Malaysia, there are a handful of pet-friendly accommodations, too. Travellers can find welcoming stays at Somerset Kuala Lumpur and Hyatt Place, though the latter currently cater exclusively to cats.

These initiatives show how the hospitality scene is evolving, welcoming not just guests but also their four-legged companions.
