With a strong commitment to supporting teams and drivers, Richard Mille's involvement in the automotive world is well-established.
A principal partner of the Le Mans Classic since 2002, Richard Mille has consistently shared the same values of championing mechanical beauty, paying homage to the past and demonstrating unwavering commitment.
Established in 2002 as a biennial celebration of racing cars that made history in the greatest endurance race of all time, the 12th edition of Le Mans Classic ran from July 3 to 6, 2025, held at the legendary 13.6km Sarthe circuit.
At the event were impressive race cars dating from 1923 through the 2000s, about 750 of which competed.
The cars competed over the course of 24 hours in six different categories ("grids") representing each of the major eras of automobiles.
These eras are the Pre-War Era (1923-1939), the Golden Age of Sports Cars (1950s), the "Big Bang" of the 1960s, the Turbo Era (1970s-1980s), the Prototypes Era (1990s-early 2000s) and the Modern Hybrid Era (mid-2000s to present).
Richard Mille's commitment to this high-octane event is further evidenced by members of the brand taking the wheel themselves.
Following in the tracks of Richard Mille and Dominique Guenat, Maxime, son of the latter, follows in the footsteps of the founders by competing in historic car racing of the highest level.
This is proof that the automotive inspiration of the brand is also carried through to the next generation both on and off the track.
Richard Mille has developed timepieces in honour of every edition of Le Mans Classic since 2008, culminating in ten special-edition watches, each incorporating Le Mans Classic’s corporate colours of green and white.
The 150-piece limited-edition RM 30-01 celebrates the 12th edition in 2025.
Its case features titanium bezels sandwiching a Green Quartz TPT caseband with green and orange interior details, while a checkered flag frames the oversized date window.
A global approach to the case, dial and every part of the movement was embodied in its design and manufacture.
Thus, the timepiece is created as a harmonious whole according to extremely rigorous specifcations.
The casing ring is eliminated, and the movement is fixed to the chassis with four titanium screws and silent blocks (ISO SW) which shows that emphasis is placed on uncompromising high quality.
Its tripartite case is water resistant to 50 metres, ensured by three Nitrile O-ring seals, assembled using 20 grade 5 titanium spline screws and abrasion-resistant washers in 316L stainless steel.
The famous Le Mans Classic logo featured on the sapphire crystal caseback and a racing-vented green rubber strap complete this new piece.
Developed with the same precision as a racing car is constructed, the Calibre RMAR2 is modified to accommodate a new 24-hour counter whose “16” numeral is shaded in green in reference to the start time of the legendary endurance race (which is also sometimes named the “green flag”).
This addition lends a new look to the watch dial, the reinterpreted skeletonised dial design evoking the outlines of a racing circuit.
Through titanium bridges and the skeletonised baseplate, its course is pursued by the 55-hour power reserve display.
The clutch engagement indicator (at 11 o’clock) shows the owner whether the rotor is operating in the winding phase (on) or is disengaged (off), while the function selector (3 o’clock) aids the wearer in choosing a crown setting.
