THE Year of the Horse is fast approaching and soon it will be time for family, friends or colleagues to gather for the yee sang prosperity toss.

Crowne Plaza Kuala Lumpur City Centre is marking the arrival of Chinese New Year with “The Gilded Gallop” – a festive theme showcased across its restaurants.

The highlight of the celebration is the fragrant osmanthus-infused dressing for the yee sang – a harmonious balance of aroma, flavour and symbolism.

The selection, priced from RM188+ for a half portion and from RM228+ for a full portion, includes Abundant Korean Snow Pear Osmanthus Yee Sang, Prosperous Norwegian Salmon Osmanthus Yee Sang, Bountiful Jellyfish Osmanthus Yee Sang and Auspicious Sakura Ebi Osmanthus Yee Sang.

A pre-order of 24 hours is required for the dish which is available until March 3.

Meanwhile, all-day dining restaurant Merchants is having a Chinese New Year Eve Reunion Dinner Buffet.

The Feb 16 affair highlights a yee sang bar, double-boiled soups, roasted duck with plum sauce, wok-fried crab, tiger prawn and clams, stir-fried radish cake and hawker-style milky fish noodles.

There are also four set menu options for family reunions and corporate celebrations.

The gatherings can be hosted at Merchants’ festive pop-up function spaces or at the Merbau Ballroom.

To illustrate what’s on offer, the Abundance Set Menu (RM328.80+ per person) includes Double-boiled Abalone Soup with Fish Maw, Steamed King Tiger Grouper in Savoury Black Bean Sauce, Butter Spiced Oat Tiger Prawns and Hong Kong-style Roasted Duck.
