Premium seafood and champagne in one delightful brunch

What do you normally spend your Sundays doing? Whatever it is, I can guarantee that there is no epicurean odyssey that is likely to top Park Hyatt’s newly-launched Champagne Brunch.

Held at the restaurant’s sky-high, sleek Merdeka Grill on the last Sunday of every month, this exclusive dining experience is sinfully indulgent and the culinary equivalent of being invited to the hottest party in town.

The brunch features an incredibly rich smorgasbord of fresh seafood – so bountiful that it’s almost like traipsing through Japan’s famed Tsukiji market. Although in this instance, you get to do more than just look.

Indulge your way through giant rock lobster, king crab, huge prawns, three different kinds of fresh oysters (sourced from Australia as well as the United States) as well as premium Japanese sashimi including Hamachi, salmon and tuna, to name a few.

There’s also an Arctic shrimp tower, multiple kinds of smoked salmon, cold cuts and a wide range of premium cheese sourced from across the globe.

The seafood is all top of the line, so if you’re a fan of the bounty of the sea, expect to indulge in some of the freshest aquatic creatures you’re likely to ever taste. The king crab is particularly memorable, yielding sweet, plump flesh that has ‘natural beauty’ written all over it.

Of the oysters, the giant US oysters offer a sumptuous, velvety opulence that you’re unlikely to find anywhere else. From the sashimi area, stand-outs include the velvety salmon and the incredibly supple Hamachi.

The brunch also includes a selection of hot meals, which will be made to order once you decide what – or rather – if you want to stuff your face even more. From what’s on offer, the grilled Hokkaido scallops are fabulous – the scallops are supple with a natural sweetness and slight bounce in their countenance.

The grilled Australian beef fillet with truffle sauce and market vegetable is also decadently good – yielding meat so succulent that mastication is optional.

From the dessert station, sample a repertoire of chocolate-inspired sweet treats. The hotel’s pastry chef Holger Deh is an Instagram star who is famed for his 71% chocolate mille feuille, which is a decadent cocoa goddess whose virtues are obvious from the very first mouthful.

The brunch has three tiers - the most expensive one comes with unlimited champagne.

The triple chocolate cookie with raspberries atop meanwhile is honest-to-God one of the best cookies you are likely to sample in this lifetime or any other, straddling the chewy/firm divide with such aplomb that it’s actually quite magical.

The brunch also comes with a choice of a few hot a la carte options, like Hokkaido scallop

The Champagne Brunch is available in three pricing tiers. It starts at RM368+ per person for the non-alcoholic package which includes unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and house-made kombucha.

Desserts include the delicious triple chocolate cookie and 71% chocolate mielle fieulle.

The next edition of Champagne Brunch will be on Sunday, 29 March 2026.
