BANGKOK (The Nation Thailand/ANN): The 20th anniversary concert of “The Emancipation of Mimi” by American diva Mariah Carey concluded in spectacular fashion, perfectly blending musical grandeur with the promotion of Thailand’s soft power.

The unforgettable finale saw Mariah deliver her legendary vocals while gracing the stage in a stunning SIRIVANNAVARI Couture gown, graciously designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in collaboration with the singer.

The dress was inspired by an archival finale masterpiece from the Princess’s Spring/Summer 2025 fashion show, symbolising the fusion of royal artistry and timeless international elegance.

The concert “Mariah Carey: The Celebration of MIMI – Live in Bangkok” was held on October 11, 2025, at Impact Challenger Hall, Muang Thong Thani, where Mariah Carey delivered a breathtaking performance that thrilled her devoted “Lambily” fanbase, both Thai and international, who filled the venue to capacity.

The pop icon treated the audience to an electrifying 26-song setlist, spanning her golden-era classics to her latest releases from the album Here For It All. Highlights included Type Dangerous, Emotions, Touch My Body, Vision of Love, Hero, Fantasy, Honey / Heartbreaker, My All, Always Be My Baby, Play This Song, In Your Feelings, Sugar Sweet, Say Something, and Shake It Off.

With her signature whistle notes resonating through the hall, Mariah captivated every eye and heart, closing the night in true diva style.

The concert also featured a special highlight exclusive to Thailand: during the grand finale, Mariah Carey appeared on stage wearing a stunning magenta gown designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.

The finale segment included her iconic songs Obsessed, It’s Like That, Don’t Forget About Us, We Belong Together, and Fly Like a Bird, marking an unforgettable close to the show.

According to Sirivannavari Bangkok, Mariah personally chose to wear Thai silk as a tribute to Thai craftsmanship. The gown, in her favourite magenta-pink hue, was crafted through the artistry of haute couture tailoring using “Luk Kaew” patterned silk in luxurious magenta (Rose Apple Blossom) tones supplied by the SUPPORT Foundation of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, The Queen Mother.

The dress featured a sculpted, floral-inspired back design that moved gracefully with every step.

The gown’s embroidery shimmered under the stage lights, showcasing intricate beadwork by artisans from the SIRIVANNAVARI Atelier and Academy, the brand’s haute couture embroidery studio. Inspired by the dok rak (crown flower) traditionally used in Thai garlands, the design incorporated thousands of crystals, sequins, and glass beads, intricately hand-embroidered to create a radiant three-dimensional effect.

Meticulously hand-embroidered over hundreds of hours, the gown was made even more special with the addition of Mariah Carey’s initials “MC”, delicately stitched into the design as a gesture of Thai hospitality and contemporary friendship.

This exquisite custom-made masterpiece from SIRIVANNAVARI showcased the brand’s exceptional attention to detail and artistry.

Adding to her radiance, Mariah shone even brighter with a one-of-a-kind high-jewellery creation, a dazzling necklace from SIRIVANNAVARI x Beauty Gems.

The piece featured a rare Padparadscha sapphire, a pink-lotus-hued gemstone cut in a teardrop shape, surrounded by a cascade of diamonds in round and square cuts, valued at over 100 million baht. The stunning jewel perfectly completed her look, befitting the elegance of a true global diva.

As the show drew to a close, Mariah Carey thanked her Thai fans with her signature radiant smile before saying clearly in Thai, “Chan rak khun ka, Thailand” (I love you, Thailand).

The simple words ignited a wave of emotion that swept through the entire hall. As the lights slowly came up, the audience erupted into thunderous applause that seemed to go on forever.

Some fans raised their phones to capture the moment, while others stood smiling through tears, aware that they had just witnessed a “night of history” that would be remembered for years to come.

The concert, “Mariah Carey: The Celebration of MIMI – Live in Bangkok,” was more than the return of a global diva; it was a celebration of the heart, uniting Thai fans, world-class production teams, and public and private sector partners in a cultural spectacle that reaffirmed that entertainment is not merely performance, but a powerful force that fuels the economy, happiness, and the spirit of the times. - The Nation Thailand/ANN
